6 Local Gigs You Can’t Miss – September 2022 Edition

I haven’t done one of these posts in over a year, but now gigs have (generally) been back to normal for a while, I’ve decided to bring back the monthly “gig guide” posts! We’re already almost half-way through the month, but here are 6 gigs you can’t miss over the coming weeks across the Portsmouth/Southampton area!

Dead Rabbits (Strong Island Recordings/Crocodile Nightmares)

When and where? Friday 16th September 2022 – Staggeringly Good Brewery, Portsmouth

In brief: Dead Rabbits are a Southampton based, psych/shoegaze band and they released their 4th album ‘A Different Place‘ a couple of weeks ago (which is well worth a listen).

Slim Things (neu waves)

When and where? Thursday 29th September 2022 – The Loft, Southsea

In brief: Slim Things are a Portsmouth local super-group of sorts having formed from the ashes of various bands. The band are still yet to release any music, but trust me on this one.

SINS (Calamity Cratediggers)

When and where? Friday 16th September 2022 – The Loft, Southsea

In brief: SINS are an indie-rock band who create catchy tracks with witty lyrics made to be heard live. The band recently released their EP ‘Algorithms‘ which combines four of their best tracks yet.

Sarpa Salpa (Fitz Promotions)

When and where? Thursday 29th September 2022 – The Edge of the Wedge, Portsmouth

In brief: Sarpa Salpa are a Northampton based indie-pop band whose live performances are always fun. Their latest single ‘Dreaming’ is a punchy, upbeat banger too.

Lauran Hibberd

When and where? Saturday 24th September 2022 – The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth

In brief: Isle of Wight’s Lauran Hibberd recently released her debut album ‘Garageband Superstar‘ which is packed full of catchy, upbeat indie-rock/pop-punk tracks.

WYSE (Whatsername/777 Promotions)

When and where? Thursday 29th September 2022 – The Hobbit Pub, Southampton

In brief: Portsmouth based artist/producer WYSE creates fierce, guitar-driven alt-rock. This gig is also WYSE’s official EP launch!
