Track of the Day #900: Flowvers – Far Away

Flowvers - Far AwayThis year has been full of surprises and I didn’t anticipate Flowvers releasing one of my favourite tracks of this year so far! The Portsmouth based indie quartet have just returned with this latest track ‘Far Away‘, their darkest, most mature offering yet. ‘Far Away’ still has the band’s energetic blue-print, but this track takes on a more melancholy, atmospheric edge than anything they’ve released before.

Speaking of the track, Flowvers have said: “‘Far Away’ was written over the last two years. The initial hook was what Stan used to play when warming up in rehearsals and it morphed into the intro and then it was plain sailing from there.”

“We jammed it and it became more and more apparent that when we came to record it would need a big sound. The lyrics talk about angst, a recurrent theme in our songs. Lines like ‘Take me so far away’ captured the feeling of a lockdown where one may have felt like they had nowhere to go.”
