Track of the Day #863: Iain Howie – Patterns

Iain Howie - PatternsPatterns‘ is the lead track taken from Vancouver based singer-songwriter/producer Iain Howie‘s debut album of the same name which is set for release on 11th June. The track is a slice of laid-back, ambient electronic music with a satisfying, funky bassline that compliments the more exotic percussion and compelling vocals.

Speaking of the track Iain Howie has said: “I wrote Patterns after my friend was diagnosed with Cancer. It’s about how we both dealt with the news and how it affected our relationship. I went through a period of disassociation, a prolonged out of body experience. I felt detached but I also felt very free. The song came together quickly. It balances songwriting and the slow progression of minimal house. Most importantly, my friend beat the shit out of his cancer! We remain close to this day”
