Leeds alternative rock band English Teacher recently returned with their latest single ‘R&B‘. It’s a fiery noise-rock offering with frenzied guitars and an almost spoken-word vocal delivery. The track is built up by minimal verses that are lead by rumbling basslines, but it’s the more hectic, energetic parts of ‘R&B’ that really set the track off.
Speaking of ‘R&B’, English Teacher have said: “‘R&B’ is about the cyclical, productivity-diminishing paradox of low self-esteem and imposter syndrome-induced writer’s block that then fuels low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. It’s also about racial identity and putting the love that you have to offer a potential romantic partner back into yourself”.
English Teacher are set to play the following live dates across the rest of the year:
13-14 May – The Great Escape Festival (Online)
12 Aug – Record Junkee, Sheffield (w/ FEET)
13 Aug – Deaf Institute, Manchester (w/ FEET)
25 Aug – YES, Manchester (Nice Swan showcase w/ Hallan & Jaws The Shark)
31 Oct – Bootleg Social, Blackpool (w/ SPRINTS)
10 Nov – Oporto, Leeds (w/ SPRINTS)
