Sheffield/London based dark-indie quartet Dead Slow Hoot have just released the first taster from their forthcoming EP that’s set for release later this year. ‘Taller Tree‘ is an exquisite cut of intense, doom-filled gloom and it grows into Dead Slow Hoot’s most anthemic offering yet. The instrumentation ticks along like clockwork for most of its duration adding to the track’s monotonous side, this is broken up by the vocals and the vibrant outro. Despite ‘Taller Tree’s melancholy side, this track certainly paves the way for a bright future for ‘Dead Slow Hoot’.
Speaking of the track, Dead Slow Hoot have said: “’Taller Tree’ is a song about sudden self awareness, recognising the characteristics in yourself that get used habitually as coping mechanisms but deny the agency or involvement of other people.”
“It’s a reflection on selfishness that I wrote on Christmas eve 2019. Either that or it’s about the general election result and is just a nice way of saying fuck the tories for four minutes…. (It’s both)”
