Bristol based Make Friends recently released this lively track ‘Kung Fu‘ and it’s a banger. The track feels quite familiar in ways but it combines many influences but in a unique fashion. ‘Kung Fu’ is an indie rock track at heart with delicate, yet catchy riffs and buoyant vocals but it’s got some 80’s tinged parts and even dabbles in post-punk, albeit briefly. It’s a track that I feel like it needs to be heard live once gigs return, but for now, it needs to be turned up loud at the very least.
Speaking of the track, Make Friends have said: “Kung-Fu translates to ‘hard/skilful work’ and ‘time spent’. Kung-Fu seems a fitting title for a time where most of those in creative industries, having trained for years to develop skills utilising their hands and feet, are now being told to retrain. It’s about the value in anything that takes your time and energy.”
