Track of the Day #775: Mystic Peach – Wanna Be My Daddy?

Long-standing Mix It All Up favourites Mystic Peach recently returned with their long-awaited new single ‘Wanna Be My Daddy?‘! Purveyors of hypnotic riffs and commanding yet chaotic tracks, the Southampton based, psych-rock trio’s new track lives up to all expectations. In true Mystic Peach fashion, ‘Wanna Be My Daddy?’ develops from nimble and melodic into a dark, cathartic ball of energy.

Speaking of the track, Curtis Gale of Mystic Peach has said: “’Wanna Be My Daddy?’ is a story of experience about how the comfort in your own sexuality can be threatening to certain people. Small town mentality, prying eyes and assumptions giving rise to the purest form of irony. The questions, the staring and unsubstantiated accusations can go unnoticed even in your busy life.”

“But when people go out of their way to make sure you know, what are you meant to do? I guess this shows how I feel. Do you want to tease me? Do you want me to feel vulnerable for you? Do you want to be my Daddy? It’s tiresome. Long story short, it’s uncomfortable questions for uncomfortable men.”

Mystic Peach recently announced a gig (yes, a live event!) at The Joiners, Southampton on 12th December 2020 but it’s, unsurprisingly, already sold out! However, they’ve just announced another show on 20th December 2020 with tickets available here, but be quick, there’s only 33 available!
