London based indie-psych duo Hi Frisco are back with yet another banger in the shape of ‘Headspin‘ and this time they’ve teamed up with Charlotte Spiral! I’ve had this track on repeat for days and it’s definitely one of the bands best yet. 80’s tinged synths lead the track alongside drifty vocals and a bold, yet funky bassline. Charlotte Spiral’s vocals add a refreshing edge to Hi Frisco’s sound.
Hi Frisco have released a string of brilliant tracks since last Autumn and we can’t wait to hear even more from them. Which is great because ‘Headspin’ is taken from the bands forthcoming debut album ‘Goodbye, Blue Monday’ which is set for release on 9th October!
Speaking of the track, Hi Frisco have said: “‘Headspin’ was a song we’d had demo’d for a while but got round to recording it quite late in the album process. In our heads it was supposed to sound like a cross between LCD Soundsystem and the Shirelles but kind of mutated into its own thing, part low slung groove with coldwave synths and part doo wop harmonies and crooner-ish lead vocals.
“Lyrically it’s a love song that was always written to be a duet offering the view of a defiant relationship, struggling against the anxiety and stress of modern life from both perspectives. We spent a while trying to find the right person to match up with the imagined voice in our heads, luckily our friend Alice introduced us to Charlotte Spiral and she more than delivered.”
