Seattle’s Naked Giants are back with their latest cut from their forthcoming album ‘The Shadow’, this time with the heartfelt, melancholy track that is ‘Turns Blue‘. The track is a complete departure from the upbeat, in-your-face indie-rock tracks already taken from the album. ‘Turns Blue’ starts off modestly and dreamily, but as the track builds it begins to erupt into something more chaotic and shoegaze-y with fuzzy, hectic crescendos.
Speaking of the track, Naked Giants have said: “‘Turns Blue’ is all about using musical and lyrical clichés about love and relationships as a vessel for deeper, more poignant reflection.”
“In my experience as a young person, building long relationships – whether it’s a romantic relationship or a friendship or a rock band – takes a lot of inward honesty and reckoning with the parts of yourself you would rather not share with others. I think it’s important to have the moments like in ‘Turns Blue’ where there’s this catharsis of emotion, but also the reflection and constant reminders of what we need to do to be worthy of that emotion.”
‘Turns Blue’ is taken from Naked Giants forthcoming album ‘The Shadow’ that is set for release on 21st August 2020.
