Track of the day: #649: Mandrake Handshake – Hypersonic Super-Asterid

I was recommended this track a few days ago and I haven’t been able to get enough of it since! ‘Hypersonic Super-Asterid‘ is the debut track from Oxford based nine-piece (yes, you read that right) Mandrake Handshake and it’s a superb psych-rock track.

The first minute reminiscent of Japanese Television and there’s hints of sci-fi synth use strewn throughout the track. ‘Hypersonic Super-Asterid’ combines swirling melodies with hypnotic vocals to create something truly fresh for its style. For a track that’s almost 9 minutes long, it’s very listenable, changing and evolving as the track builds.
