Local gigs you can’t miss in March 2020!

A bit later than normal, but here are some of the best gigs coming up over the remainder of March 2020 across Portsmouth and Southampton including headline performances from Sweaty Palms, Arcade Hearts, The Zodiacs, Talk Show and more!

Arcade Hearts

When and where? 13th March 2020 – Joiners, Southampton | Facebook Event

Supports? Drusila | TBA

In brief: Gosport based electro pop/indie/alt band who’ve gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years. This show marks Arcade Hearts first local gig in over 12 months following studio time and gigging across the UK, so it’s definitely a gig not to be missed.

The Zodiacs (Idols Promotions)

When and where? 12th March 2020 – the Edge of the Wedge, Portsmouth | Facebook Event

Supports? Mammalia Blue | Artemis

In brief: Riff-driven psych, rock n’ roll from Fareham. The band is comprised of various familiar faces from previous local bands including Marmalade Moonshine and The Collision.

Any Joy. (Club Psychedelia)

When and where? 14th March 2020 – Heartbreakers, Southampton | Facebook Event

Supports? Bel Esprit | Lelo

In brief: Brighton based band that might be familiar to some as they’d been in over upcoming local bands over the last couple of years. From what I’ve heard already, Any Joy create relaxed indie pop/rock tracks that evolve into something more epic.

Sleep Eaters (Calamity Cratediggers) *Postponed*

When and where? 28th March 2020 – The Wave Maiden, Southsea | Facebook Event

Supports? The Stone Birds | The Slaughter House Band | The Howlers

In brief: London based country-garage band. We saw them perform at Portsmouth Psych Fest 2019 and thought they were great! ‘Ghost on Fire’ (listen below) is a tune and a half.

Talk Show (Radar Promotions) *Postponed*

When and where? 21st March 2020 – The Loft, Southampton | Facebook Event

Supports? Roscoe Roscoe | Web | The Radar

In brief: Over the last year Talk Show have gone from strength to strength and are quickly cementing themselves as one of the best, upcoming and must-see post-punk bands of the moment. The band are set to release their latest EP towards the end of this month and their latest single taken from said EP, ‘Stress’ is huge (listen below).

Sweaty Palms (Calamity Cratediggers)

Supports? Hallan | Love Reptiles | Riot Club

In brief: One of our favourites we discovered at Portsmouth Psych Fest last year! The Glasgow based band create music that can be described as raw, hypnotic garage-rock. We also saw them headline Calamity Cratediggers stage at Portsmouth Psych Fest 2019 and thought they were brilliant.

Fitz Promotions All-dayer *Postponed*

When and where? 28th March 2020 – the Edge of the Wedge, Portsmouth | Facebook Event

Who’s playing? Paraffin | Subpacific | Mellor | Sidetracked | Belles | Tom Lumley and the Brave Liason

In brief: Fitz Promotions brings a great mix of local and not so local indie-rock/pop bands to the Edge of the Wedge towards the end of the month. All the bands playing live on the day will play 45 minute long sets and the event is set to finish at 10pm.

Music For The Mind (Missing Promotions/Red Lantern Promotions) *Postponed*

In brief: Missing Promotions and Red Lantern Promotions have teamed up bringing a great mix of brilliant local bands to The Loft, Southsea in aid of Music For The Mind.
