Today Fast Trains, the solo project of songwriter and producer Tom Wells, have returned with their first new music since April 2019. ‘Sea Change‘ is a more minimal, even calming track than previous offerings with an ambient edge. Although it’s a seemingly straight-forward track on the surface, its intricacies make even more interesting.
Since the release of Fast Trains ‘Measure by Measure EP’ last April, the project has evolved into a live endeavour with Fast Trains playing a surprise performance at Icebreaker Festival in January before selling out The Loft, Southsea a week later.
Speaking of the live band, Tom Wells has said: “Last year I was tearing my hair out, trying to find a way to perform it all live. Eventually the answer was so simple, just assemble my favourite musicians in a room and see what comes out.”
“They do sound very different – the band sounds one way, and the record sounds another, which I really like. I get excited about that.”
Be sure to catch Fast Trains at their next live performance at Psyched Fest, Portsmouth on 2nd May 2020. Fast Trains will be joined by other local favourites such as Hallan, The Stone Birds, Tom Bryan plus the likes of Imperial Wax, PVA, BDRMM, Lumer and more! Tickets available here.
