Track of the day #589: Marsicans – Juliet

Marsicans - Juliet

Leeds based indie-pop band Marsicans are back with a brand new track ‘Juliet‘ as well as news of their forthcoming debut album and an October UK headline tour!

With a week of clues across social media leading up to this point, Marsicans have just announced their debut album ‘Ursa Major’ will be released on 22nd May via Killing Moon Records.

‘Juliet’ is a radiant, upbeat and oh-so-catchy tune about overthinking and is the perfect introduction to what to expect from the album alongside previous track ‘Can I Stay Here Forever (pt. II)’.

Speaking of the track, frontman James Newbigging has said: “The song is set on the Juliet balcony at the flat where I live. It was written at quite a difficult time, where we were all outwardly happy about what we were doing as a band, but I personally just felt dejected by the uncertainty of it all.”

“Not by the things we could control ourselves, but worrying over things like if we were ever going to release an album. And if we did, would anyone even care? What were we doing with our lives? So each verse is a different night of me on the balcony thinking these thoughts – but then something would always cheer me up.”

To coincide with the release of ‘Juliet’ and the bands debut album announcement, Marsicans have also announced an October UK headline tour:

14th October – Aberdeen, Tunnels
15th October – Glasgow, King Tut’s
17th October – Manchester, Gorilla
21st October – Bristol, Thekla
22nd October – London, Scala
24th October – Leeds Beckett University

The band will also play the BBC Introducing Stage at SXSW next month.
