‘Calm Down‘ is the latest track from Atlanta based multi-instrumentalist Bathe Alone and it’s a sublime dream-pop/shoegaze-tinged track full of highs and lows. It’s a serene track for the most part with glorious, washed out guitar melodies and blissful vocals up until the turbulent but epic breakdown towards the end of the track.
Everything has been thought out right down to the slight intricacies throughout the guitars, the percussion and beyond to resemble “subliminal messages and sonic metaphors for panic attacks” as Bathe Alone describes below.
Speaking of the track, Bathe Alone has said: “Calm down isn’t just a song, it’s a concept piece full of subliminal messages and sonic metaphors for panic attacks. Something I wanted to convey in the song is that panic attacks aren’t an “on/off” sort of thing. There’s no switch. There’s a ramp up period as well as a ramp down period. This was the song I made that made me realise I could make an entire album about mental health awareness.”
‘Calm Down’ is taken from Bathe Alone’s debut album ‘Last Looks’ which is set for release this summer.
