Track of the day #464: Kitchenette – Summer’s End
Agitated drumming and dark, post-punk synths drive Netherlands band Kitchenette‘s latest offering ‘Summer’s End‘. It’s a bubbling ball of energy which erupts into contrasting, cheery choruses against a background of something a bit gloomier. ‘Summer’s End’ is something quite nostalgic in ways but with a modern edge to it.
Speaking of lyrical themes throughout track, Kitchenette has said: “The song is about an era coming to an end, and trying to justify it to yourself that it’s probably for the best. The song is written in a context of leaving your summer love/crush behind and going home”.
