Industrial and danceable from the word go is ‘Disco‘, the appropriately titled track from Los Angeles based band Sextile. It’s weighted down with repetitive rhythms, heavy vocals and a minimal, but hypnotic approach throughout. Heavily influenced by post-punk, new wave and NDW (see below) the now duo have crafted a minimalist sound which is unmistakably theirs. ‘Disco’ is taken from Sextile’s most recent EP, ‘3’ which was released last Friday.
Speaking of the track, the band have said: “We definitely feel this song is a new direction for us. It’s tough, it’s dance-y. The lyrics focus on lack of time, DIY spaces getting shut down, gun control, and media propaganda. Visually and aesthetically, the video was influenced by the NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle/New German Wave) genre.”
