Track of the day #378: Alex Haller – I Want My Friends
‘I Want My Friends‘ the latest track by Cambridge based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Alex Haller. It’s a summery, somewhat nostalgic and charming track with rolling guitar melodies. Starting off as a general, but not generic indie-pop track it slowly fades into something much more psychedelic with processed vocals and the aforementioned rolling guitars becoming more hypnotic and dreamy. The track snaps back from its dreamy state to something a lot more vivid before finishing up with a bang.
Speaking of the track, Alex has said: “I got the initial idea for this tune biking down the Canal in London. It was early spring and I was starting to vibe with the prospect of breaking out of the winter cocoon and getting outdoors again. I was at a bit of a transitional point in my life, so I wanted to look back and make a record inspired by the music which had influenced me, but putting a bit of a weird spin on it. This record is the fruit of that process.”
‘I Want My Friends’ is taken from Alex Haller’s forthcoming sophomore EP ‘Patterns’.
