Track of the day #295: Veda Rays – Shadow Side

Brooklyn alternative trio Veda Rays have just released ‘Shadow Side‘, the first taster and title track from their forthcoming EP, the first recorded material from the band since 2014. ‘Shadow Side’ combines a gloomy whine of organ melodies with stubborn, yet dreamy unique vocals which together create a somewhat eerie feel. The track combines various influences including everything from dream pop to post punk and even psychedelic rock. Speaking of the track, James Stark from the band has said: “The song is a dream logic impression of somnambulistic dread. A subliminal reaction to the projection of our collective shadow; and to the fear mongering, hysteria and abandonment of reason in its wake.”
