Track of the day #290: Autobahn – Future

Future‘ is the second cut taken from Leeds based, post-punk quintet Autobahn‘s latest album ‘The Moral Crossing’ which is set for release on November 3rd. It’s a less frantic, but more bubbly offering than the title track which was released just over a month ago. Whilst melancholic vocally, it’s contrastingly vibrant and lively instrumentally with effervescent synths and instrumentation throughout its duration.

Speaking of the track, frontman Craig Johnson has said: “The song is about looking forward and supporting one another through darker times. It’s an attempt to be positive.

This is probably the closest we’ve got to a pop song, there’s definitely influence from the likes of Human League and Gary Numan in there. I remember trying to work out how to structure this type of song, so we leaned on the Wham! classic Club Tropicana for a leg up.
