Blissfields returns to the idyllic Hampshire countryside near Winchester this weekend (6th-8th July). Now in its 11th year with its theme ‘The Bizarra’, the festival will be headlined by both The Cinematic Orchestra and Metronomy. Bands such as Sundara Karma, Black Honey and The Japanese House will also be playing the festival among over 100 others.
If you are heading off to Blissfields this weekend, here are four bands you definitely shouldn’t be missing.
A band that we finally got to see live earlier this year after hearing so many good things about! Is Bliss are a Portsmouth based trio whose music is a display of the best shoegaze influences merging with phychedelic rock with vivid, hypnotic euphoria.
Flamingods are an exotic, experimental psychedelia quintet based across both the UK and Bahrain. With a sound as colourful and taking a wider influence from cultures, there’s nothing quite like Flamingods music. The band released their third album ‘Majesty’ in June last year.
Francobollo are a London via Sweden grunge pop, quartet. Known for their humble, yet humorous lyrics and energetic performances, the band are definitely a band not to miss this year, yet alone just at Blissfields. The band are set to release their debut album ‘Long Live Life’ next week (14th July) and are set to tour the UK this October/November.
Earlier this year, we fell in love with Melt Dunes track ‘Flesh’ which was enticing, hypnotic and also rather turbulent. The Portsmouth/Southampton based psychedelic rock bands music can be both doom-laden and dream-like in the same breath. Sure to cause a racket, Melt Dunes are definitely one not to be missed.
