Track of the day #234: GUFRA – Idle Afternoons

GUFRA – Idle Afternoons

Although self-described as “mediocre”, we can assure you that from GUFRA‘s latest track ‘Idle Afternoons‘, they are anything but that. Returning from a short breaking having split up last year, the Hartlepool quartet are back with a slightly different sound regarding the first single since the break.

With minimal drumming and laid back vocals alongside restless, repetitive melodies, ‘Idle Afternoons’ is a fairly summer-y tune with a slight melancholic side to it. It’s a track which bridges the gaps between post-punk, shoegaze and indie all at once. After a few listens, I actually found myself singing along to the track, it’s rather catchy too!

GUFRA are planning on releasing an EP in the coming months and we’re very much looking forward to hearing more from them, so watch this space.
