4 bands you cannot miss at Common People Southampton 2017
Common People Southampton returns for it’s third year next weekend! The Bestival-ran festival combines a family-orientated, fun atmosphere with well known acts alongside upcoming bands across the Bank Holiday weekend of May 27th-28th. Common People expanded to also host an event in Oxford last year, which also returns this coming weekend.
Upcoming bands are also important to the festival, with the Southampton leg of the festival hosting a whole stage (The Uncommon Stage) in conjunction with Joiners, Southampton dedicated to the best new local acts.
4 bands you can’t miss at Common People Southampton 2017
The Magic Gang
We saw The Magic Gang the other week back at Live At Leeds festival and despite not catching their whole set, we were very much impressed by them. The Brighton based indie quartet have a devoted fanbase which is one to be admired and a live performance not to be missed.
Kassassin Street
Long-time favourites of Mix It All Up, Kassassin Street return to Common People Southampton this weekend following a brief period of lying low over the past few months. The band’s latest single ‘Do Or Die’ was a huge hit over the last two tours that the band did towards the end of last year, and with an energy like theirs, they’re definitely not one to be missed.
The Costellos
It’s been a long time since we last saw The Costellos, but we were definitely impressed by what we saw and I’m honestly not too sure why it’s taken us so long to see them again. The indie, rock n roll band have made a name for themselves over the past few years and have even been compared to “a young Arctic Monkeys” in the past. The Costellos are also playing the opening night of Southampton’s newest venue The Loft mid-June.

Cassava
Cassava are a Southampton based indie, guitar rock band with tracks full of jangly guitar riffs and melodic hooks. The band have had a remarkable year so far having supported Milburn at Engine Rooms earlier in the year and having released latest single ‘Long Way Home’ and ‘In The End’ which is set for release in the future. Common People is just the start of a busy summer of various festival appearances coming up for Cassava. It’s a big year ahead for them
