Tracks of the week #183 – #188

Here are this weeks (20/02/2017) tracks of the week including the likes of Wayde, Melt Dunes, Slow Riot and more!

#183: Wayde – Easy (Don’t Be Long)

With just one single (Eleanor) under their belts which started the ball rolling on heaps of attention from the likes of DIY, BBC 6 Music, The 405 and more. The Essex based, slacker rock band’s latest track ‘Easy (Don’t Be Long)‘, is melodic with rolling guitars and weary vocals. The track comes from their forthcoming ‘Lucky Aide’ EP set for release on March 3rd.

#184: Monico Blonde – Bad Thoughts

Cardiff based Monico Blonde‘s latest single ‘Bad Thoughts‘ is contagiously catchy. Rumbling basslines amongst, melancholic lyrics but with the indie-pop sensibilities of the likes of Franz Ferdinand and vocals comparable to that of The Killers. Definitely a band to watch out for in 2017.

#185: Hoops – Rules

Rules‘ is the first single taken from Hoops debut record, ‘Routines’ which is set for release on 5th May via Fat Possum Records. The track is jangly with quick guitar melodies alongside breathy, lo-fi vocals and has a very relaxed, summery feel to it.

#186: Slow Riot – Pink December

Pink December‘ is the latest track, released just last week, by Slow Riot, an Irish post-punk trio. The track is in equal parts dark, melancholic and yet anthemic throughout. The band are currently recording their debut LP which is set for release later this year.

#187: Melt Dunes – Flesh

Flesh‘ is the latest track from Portsmouth/Southampton based psychedelic rock band Melt Dunes. The track has a sense of urgency to it which is put across in a rather chaotic, yet urgent manner. In just under six minutes, we’re given a hypnotic, noise-rock track which is absolutely huge.

#188: Echo Beach – Athena

Liverpool based dream-pop band Echo Beach are releasing their debut single ‘Athena‘ today. The track is jangly with dreamy, yet bleak vocals and infectious guitar melodies. Echo Beach are set to play a co-headline gig on 3rd March at Magnet, Liverpool alongside SPINN who we interviewed last week.
