Our highlights of the year generally come in festival form, so what better than to look towards upcoming music festivals in 2017?
Here are six festivals, local and beyond to look forward to across 2017!
When and where? Southsea, 28th January.
After only discovering this festival last year having been recommended it by someone last year, Icebreaker festival has become a firm favourite in our festival calendar. Being one of the first festivals of the year, there’s no excuse not to go and find up and coming bands this early in the year. Portsmouth Psych Fest
When and where? Southsea, 29th April.
Brand new festival, Portsmouth Psych Fest will bring the best local and national psychedelic, shoegaze and post-punk bands to Wedgewood Rooms this April. The festival has two stages hosted by both Portsmouth Psych and Strong Island Recordings. Although the full line-up is yet to be announced, bands such as Melt Dunes, Is Bliss and Strange Cages
Live at Leeds
When and where? Leeds, 29th April.
Further away than all the other festivals mentioned, but the line-up for Live At Leeds this year is smashing so it was more than worth the mention. Among the already announced bands, White Lies, Teleman, The Pigeon Detectives, Team Picture plus many more.
When and where? Lulworth Estate, 7th-10th September.
After leaving its original home on the Isle Of Wight, Bestival has upped from its roots and has taken to the site of “Camp Bestival” at Lulworth Castle this year. The festival is set to be bigger and better than other years, with an “incredible lineup and headliners confirmed” for this years event.
When and where? Southsea, 25th-27th August.
With a brand new opening night on the Friday before the festival, Victorious Festival will be back this year with already announced, Madness headlining the Friday night. The festival takes place on Southsea seafront with stages with fantastic seaside views.
When and where? Near Winchester, 18th-20th May.
Still with over 100 bands to announce, Blissfields returns in May this year with headliners Metronomy, among other great bands such as Sundara Karma, The Japanese House and Black Honey having already been announced. New for 2017: The festival now gives free hot air balloon rides!
