Track of the Day #83 : CONTRAST – Livewire

Contrast are Melbourne based, dreampop/noisepop quartet (if you include the current drum machine). ‘Livewire‘ is the first track from their upcoming debut album and is available as “name your price” via Bandcamp.

The intro to ‘Livewire’ is rather suspenseful, with a range of experimental noises from distortion to slow reversed, string like sounds to something that could vaguely resemble crickets in grass! The track is a glimmering sound of summer, with a throbbing bassline throughout. The vocals on this track feel quite lazy adding to the warm feel of the track, but they also feel like they should be from a grunge track rather than the dreampop track that this is.
