Monthly UK music magazine The Fly is being closed by owners MAMA after 15 years in business.
MAMA, which is primarily a live music promoter and venue operator, announced the news today in a short statement.
“After nearly 15 years of pioneering new music journalism, the owners of The Fly are officially closing the magazine as a result of current market conditions surrounding publishing,” it said. “We offer gratitude and wish well all the staff and contributors that have allowed us to deliver the UK’s longest serving monthly free sheet.
Incredibly sad news! R.I.P to one of the best print music magazines out there. The Fly has been a lifeline to many upcoming bands, over time championing and debuting many of the bands we now love. This will be sorely missed!
