Last month Brighton based Any Joy. emerged with their debut single ‘Rush‘, a slow-burner that erupts into something epic as well as somewhat beautiful in ways. ‘Rush’ has intricacies, melodic parts and atmospherics that become more apparent the more you listen to it. The track closes out with an huge, post-rock breakdown. I’m yet to see to see the band live, but I feel like the track would be something else in that capacity and if it hasn’t already, be enough to give you goosebumps.
Speaking of the track, frontman Jimmy Herrity has said: “‘Rush’ is about fleeting moments of Joy in a sea of pain. Blissful moments where you remember how sweet life can taste when it seemed like all the lights had gone out. In a nutshell it’s about feeling hope when you’re a little drunk, your toes are frosty and you can see some pretty city lights in the distance. I do like romanticism.”
