Psyched Fest (FKA Portsmouth Psych Fest) returns for its 4th year on 2nd May in an expanded format, now bringing the best emerging, mind-bending music to 5 stages across Albert Road, Southsea.
With huge thanks to Psyched Fest for inviting us to curate a dedicated local band stage, we’re also very excited to announce the six bands playing on our stage dedicated to local bands!
Portsmouth’s best upcoming post-punk quartet Hallan are set to play for us on the day! The band have had a string of huge, catchy tracks over the past year, have sold out two headline gigs and last week they packed out The Fat Fox for their Icebreaker set. The band have recently been in the studio with the promise of new tracks on the horizon!
One of the most exciting bands on the local live circuit at the moment, The Stone Birds will also join us bringing their infectious, blues-tinged rock to Psyched Fest. The band’s riff-filled and super catchy tunes went down a storm at Icebreaker with their set packing the room to the point it was one in, one out.
We’ve also got Web who are one of the most forward-thinking and impressive local bands of the moment with déjà vu-esque, hypnotic, experimental post-punk tunes. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen them do the same live set twice and they are a must-see live.
We’ve also got Tom Wells (ex Kassassin Street) latest project Fast Trains set to perform on the day! Their Psyched Fest performance follows on from their sold-out gig at The Loft, Southsea last weekend which I’ve only seen rave reviews about. The live band features other familiar faces from around the local scene.
I saw Slug Money for the first time last month and was impressed by the in your face, organised chaos side to their live performance. I’ve never seen a band’s frontman off the stage and in the crowd more than they were on stage! The band will also join us at Psyched Fest this year!
And finally, PlayMondaeo are a punk band with energetic, sharp, snappy tunes. I saw them live for the first time last night and they were great. We look forward to welcoming them to the festival as well.
Other local bands/artists announced for other stages include Megan Linford, Dad Hair, Tom Bryan, Sea Levels and Summoners!
The local bands just announced for Psyched Fest 2020 join the already announced Imperial Wax, PVA, Lumer, BDRMM Rosie Alena and more (see here).
