‘Empire‘ is the latest track taken from ‘Enemy Numbers’, the latest EP by Doviak (best known for his work with Johnny Marr). The track is more in-your-face, even sure of itself than his last offering ‘Solid State Machines‘. It’s still got an industrial feel to it and the monotony of the instrumentation is complimented by various atmospheric intricacies. The more I’ve listened to this one, the more it’s grown on me.
Speaking of the track, Doviak has said: “‘Empire’ was conceived while on tour in a wintry Berlin hotel. It’s a distanced look at the changing political landscape of modern and 20th century Britain through the lens of someone alienated by the modern world. It beings furtively but intensely and builds to a pounding end.”
