York’s Violet Contours recently returned with their latest track ‘Pablo’s Hippos‘, their third single release so far this year. It’s an indie-rock track at heart but with a danceable edge created by lively, high-energy guitar melodies and compelling vocals. There’s also something about the track that reminds of the likes of The Sunshine Underground.
‘Pablo’s Hippos’ lyrical content is centred around “the idea that one man’s moment of indulgence and excess can have far reaching consequences long into the future”. The track’s name coming from how drug lord Pablo Escobar created a hippo problem in Columbia.
