Track of the day #540: Briston Maroney – Steve’s First Bruise

Briston Maroney - Steve's First Bruise

Tennessee based singer-songwriter Briston Maroney recently returned with his latest track, ‘Steve’s First Bruise‘, an urgent, yet concise track clocking in at just under two minutes. It’s simple, but certainly effective, packed with bags of energy and a punk-y edge.

Speaking of the track, Briston Maroney has said: “I played the two chords of basically the entire song for like an hour in a parking lot in Washington before the last show of our tour with Liz Cooper, and loved the energy but couldn’t crack the code of lyrics.”

“We were tracking another song with Jim Abbiss in London that wasn’t going well, and I just started playing that guitar part in between takes and we ended up cranking it out in like 6 hours. It was an awesome and new experience for me to move so quickly!”

If you like what you hear, Briston Maroney heads out on a headline UK next month and will play the following dates:

24th October – Rough Trade, Bristol
25th October – The Deaf Institute, Manchester
26th October – The Hug and Pint, Glasgow
27th October – Community Room @ Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
28th October – The Lexington, London
30th October – The Hope & Ruin, Brighton
