Track of the day #510: Japanese Television – Crocodile Dentist

Japanese Television, the finest psychedelic instrumental band around at the moment are back with latest single ‘Crocodile Dentist‘, the first cut taken from their forthcoming EP. The eccentric name should be enough to entice you to listen but this hypnotic, even terrifyingly suspenseful piece proves once again that music doesn’t need words. Fun fact: the track was recorded in one take!

However, speaking of the track, Japanese Television have said: “Crocodile Dentist is probably the most garage rock thing we’ve recorded, somewhere between the Monks and the Munsters. Recorded at Yaxley Village hall, no overdubs, one take, to 8 track tape. Tim claims never to have performed dentistry on a crocodile but he has had a fingertip sewn back on.”

Japanese Television’s creatively named second EP ‘Japanese Television II’ is set for release on 24th July to satisfy all your psych, space-surf instrumental needs. The band are also set to play their biggest London headline show on the same day for the EP launch at the Waiting Room.
