Track of the day #469: Team Picture – Clone You

Here’s a more mellow offering from Leeds based favourites of ours Team Picture. ‘Clone You‘ is a track that was written in the earlier days of the band where they were experimenting, “educating” themselves away from sounding like the average alt-rock bands. However, it’s been given a new lease of life and will be released as part of their AA-side, limited edition cassette release ‘Bedroom Genius’ that is set for release on 18th January 2019 via Big Dumb Music.

‘Clone You’ is a slow-burner but it grows into something truly anthemic and worth the wait. It’ll stick to you like glue after even the first listen, something that Team Picture always do so well.

Speaking of the lyrics throughout ‘Clone You’, JL from the band has said: “The focus of the lyrics wasn’t dwelt upon much at the time, but in hindsight, they both feel like they’re about loneliness. Something I only really realised when Rufus Newell (designer) sent through his ideas for the artwork.”

Team Picture have also announced a brief UK tour for next April and will play the following dates:

17 April – Broadcast, Glasgow
18 April – Castle Hotel, Manchester
25 April – The Macbeth, London
26 April – Cafe Totem, Sheffield
