Fitting in perfectly with the category, minty fresh London quartet Toothpaste return with their latest single ‘Bedtime‘. Tinged with nostalgia, ‘Bedtime’ becomes dreamlike, even hypnotic as the track progresses. It’s a piece of enchanting, modern dream-pop which manages to combine 80s pop influences with shoegaze flawlessly. ‘Bedtime’ was recorded as well as produced by the band’s own Daisy Edwards and mixed by Slowdive legend, Simon Scott.
Speaking of the track, Toothpaste vocalist Amol Prabhu has said: “Bedtime is a song about the misty-eyed moments of magic you might feel just before you drift off into dreamland. It is an ode to the blissful escape of sleep and the chance of seeing the one you love slip into your room, giving you a sweet send-off towards the shores of slumber. The feeling you get of slipping through the ever expansive layers of consciousness until you land with a gentle bump on the picturesque field of your dormant landscape. Was the one who floated into bed beside you ever really there? Whether in dreams or reality, the mere pretence of their presence was enough to soothe you for the night.”
Toothpaste are set to launch ‘Bedtime’ at Hackney’s GROW tonight (7th September) with support from Truman Dinosaur, Childsplay (DJ) and Modjo Roberto (DJ).
