Fresh: Meringue – Weird Blues

It’s Portland double trouble with this track taken from a split single cassette from Meringue and The Wild Body. I’m yet to listen to The Wild Body but this track from Meringue really appealed to me due to its unusual style. ‘Weird Blues‘ is garage-rock but with a twist, some falling, haunting melodies and simple, but melancholic vocals. If anything, the name very much sums it up regarding the unusual combination of instrumentation alongside a more nonchalant vocal delivery for its lyrical content. Lyrically, the track is said to be about one of Ted Bundy‘s victims, Donna Gail Manson who is believed to have been murdered but her remains have never been confirmed to have been discovered.
