It’s something a bit different, it’s not something I’d usually go for, but somehow I just felt compelled to write about it. ‘Profiteroles‘ by Starling makes you go back for more just like the tasty cake snacks that I’m also now craving. It’s very much a pop track but with a difference, it’s dynamic and builds with layers and layers until its a fully fledged track. Although ‘Profiteroles’ still manages to be minimal with a sparse use of instrumentation and repetition of vocals.
Speaking of the track, Starling has said: “It’s a song about growing up in English suburbia and asking questions about the things that are so adult-ing. Realising instead I need to ask what’s important to me not what’s important to culture – measure me – marry me – my purpose in life is not to stay thin or get a ring on my finger – it’s to make art and be kind.”
‘Profiteroles’ is taken from Starling’s latest EP release ‘The Soul’ which is out on June 22nd.
