Set to play at Icebreaker Festival in just under 3 weeks time, we thought it was the perfect time to have a chat with Dutch Criminal Record. We caught up with Chichester based alternative rock band to discuss what to expect from them live, their recent Drake cover and the future!

Hi there! Firstly, so that our readers can know a bit more about you, please introduce Dutch Criminal Record:
Hi! We are a four piece band formed and based in Chichester and we’d describe our music as South Coast Indie but with Alternative Rock, Lo-Fi and Pop elements. We like to have lots of guitar melodies and try to pad the songs with as many harmonies as possible!
We’re yet to catch you live but are hoping to see you at Icebreaker Festival this year. For anyone, like ourselves, who are yet to see you live, how would you describe a Dutch Criminal Record gig?
Ah, it will be great to see you there! Well, musically it’s fast and upbeat with lots of energy. We try and get the crowd involved as much as possible with a bit of audience participation to keep everyone on their toes.
You recently did a cover of ‘Drake – Hold on We’re Going Home’ for InSound Studios. But if you could have any band/musician cover one of your tracks, who would it be, which track and why?
That’s pretty tough as there are loads of artists we love who could make our songs their own, but we reckon we would ask Drake to return the favour! Our track ‘Corona’ might be a cool one for him to do as it has that easy going West Coast vibe already.
Where is somewhere you’d love to play, but haven’t yet?
This list could be a long one but we’ve tried to cut it down to make it manageable…
Red Rocks and the Hollywood Bowl in America are two really amazing natural amphitheatre’s that we’ve dreamed of playing. In the UK there are a few cool venues as well. For example, the O2 Academy Brixton not least because of its sloped floor which means everyone can see!
There was the suggestion to play at Wembley, both music and football! But then we brought things back down to Earth thinking that we could play Buckingham Palace, but out of the front windows as the roof has already been done!
Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs and what have you got planned for 2018?
We’ve been busy booking a lot of gigs some which we’ve announced on our Facebook already and more to be announced in the coming weeks. We’re trying to bring out as much new content as possible so we have a photoshoot in the pipeline, a track recently recorded and plans for an EP later this year!
We’d like to thank Dutch Criminal Record very much for their time! You can also check out their latest releases via Soundcloud below and listen to/watch their cover of Drake’s ‘Hold On We’re Going Home’ here. Off to Icebreaker Festival, Southsea? Make sure to catch them at the Edge of the Wedge at 17:55 on Saturday 3rd February!
