‘Place Called Home‘ is the latest track taken from Mono Club‘s forthcoming album ‘Sky High and Submarine’ which is set for release early next year. The intro to the track feels almost fairytale-like with various strings and twinkling synth sounds intertwining. Not stopping around for long, ‘Place Called Home’ quickly erupts into a both powerful, yet delicately jangly, indie pop track. The track also features musician/songwriter Lyla Foy’s vocals which compliment the track perfectly and are just the right side of sickly sweet.
Speaking of the track, John Herbert of Mono Club has said: “The song was half finished and I met with Lyla (Foy) with the intention of asking her to help me complete it as, to me, stylistically it was missing something. I was listening to a lot of Go-Betweens and B52’s at the time and wanted to hear a female voice on my song. As soon as she’d sung the counter melody to me and I’d heard our voices together I knew it was right. I wanted her to inhabit the song rather than just guest on it and she does!”
