Fresh: 1955 – The Big One

You’d be forgiven for reading the name and thinking of Blackpool Pleasure Beach over the shores of California, but 1955‘s latest single ‘The Big One‘ is a love song inspired by the whopper earthquake which is impending on California.

‘The Big One’ feels instantly familiar from first listen. Despite being a love song, it’s not soppy, far from it. This self-assured track shows its true colours in the fashion of a peacock throughout, even down to the especially confident lyrics of “you believe in reason? Oh… I think that’ll change…”. Its repetitive, but minimal approach immediately makes it catchy and recognisable from the word go. One thing for sure with its stomping guitars and fearless licks, ‘The Big One’ sure is a big one track-wise!
